Book I is an introductory guide book to books I‒X. It provides background information on all aspects of Cornwall from the oldest rocks to the most recent plans to build a spaceport at Newquay Airport. Books II‒X are detailed guide books that cover the Ordnance Survey Explorer Maps for Cornwall.
Robert Meller was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and was unable to pursue his retirement plans (dreaming of sailing in the Mediterranean!) However he had the good fortune of living in Cornwall, and began to write short pieces about his trips out across the county. Gradually the whole of the coastal path was walked, latterly using Nordic walking poles, houses and gardens were visited, mines and quarries explored, and geological formations studied. The material accumulated, street maps and diagrams were drawn and far too many shaky photographs taken. Slowly from out of the disorder the ten Bedrock Cornwall Books emerged. Robert still lives in Cornwall with his wife, Susie, and their dog, Star, and are visited by their children and grandchildren.
